If you guys are trying to get this server really popular, people are going to flip when they can't make a simple stone pickaxe. Not just because this happened to me, but this may be more negative than positive. The more relaxed people (75% of the minecraft population) will not like that it takes forever to level up just to make a stone pick, or level up in mining, woodcutting, farming, combat. When a smart player looks at this, he will think it is good. Still, as I said, if you want this server to be popular, you gotta take out what people don't like. Keep this in the back of your head. I have suggestions to compensate this:

1. Make the experience it takes to level up a lesser value by either
a. increasing the experience earned per thing (ie. mining a block, forging something)
b. decrease the xp per level

2. Take out forging itself.

3. Take out levelcraft.

4. Eat bananas

5. Tough Luck (I really don't want to suggest this one because it's always picked, but it can be SOMETIMES the best one)



If you aren't going for popularity, this still may be a problem. The people that are here now may not like this or be as constructive as I am. One tip may be to look at this from a players view, not an admin. This helped me when working on my server. As an admin, you can do everything, but to be a good admin, you must make the players happy and entertained. So do everything a player's way, and see the challenges or the too-easies that they encounter. It helps to make a more balanced server that definitely gets more visits.

We cut the experience gain-rate to 1/10 of what the plugin normally had. We purposely did it so that players would have to specialize. As admins, we're playing the same as players. We are not all-powerful, when it comes to playing the game (other than the admin axe). As of now, I am only level 4 in forgery. Rand is specializing in forgery, and I am leveling up high in Mining. The idea is that certain players will become high in different levels, and the other players will come to them when they need help with something in their category. As I'm sure you've noticed, everyone goes to rand for tools and smelting iron and whatnot. It's to encourage a stronger community and more cooperation. It also helps the economy.

As for players hating the system, we'd rather have a player leave if he doesn't understand the pure awesomeness involved in the suggested "society" that we're trying to build. Very Happy

So in the end, option 5 is the one we're going with. Tough luck.

The server is live. Our temporary address is 67.181.23.180. It's running on my computer until we get Rand's all set up.
